Description
Little Roundtop in Gettysburg, PA, is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places to visit, anytime of the year. Why we are fortunate to have this beautiful place protected for all to see is tragic, as it was the site of one of this county's most bloody battles in the effort to save this country as one single country, and to free a people who had spent hundreds of years dragged away from their homes and enslaved in the "Land of the Free." The irony, the sense of tragedy, the cost, all impress themselves on your visit here, often totally unexpectedly. Since I live so nearby, it is a place I visit several times a year for the beauty, and peace that exists there now, and am often unexpectedly stabbed with memory of WHY I am able to enjoy is peace and beauty today. That said, I have updated my drawing with a touch of digital color enhancement in an attempt to remedy my poor photo-taking skills. I hope this pastel pencil painting gives you peace, and a moment to appreciate the cost of such a peaceful location.
